About Stacy

As a psychotherapist and educator I bring to my practice a belief that we are inherently resilient beings who long to be authentic, recognized, deeply engaged in the world, and have an innate capacity to grow and change. The heart of my expertise is working with insecure attachment, specifically the dynamics of chronic shame across the lifespan. As an educator, I strive to make accessible diverse theoretical content and locate it in clinical practice, making it accessible and applicable while not diluting the sophisticated nuance of the material. My clinic orientation continues to evolve, and has its foundations from learnings including affect regulation, attachment studies, trauma studies, relational and interpersonal psychoanalytic practice, and somatic psychotherapy.

I live and work in Victoria, BC on the unceded territories of the Lekwungen peoplesthe Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ Nations, whose relationships with this land continue to this day, where I offer Bringing the Body into Practice Trainings for therapists, and I have a psychotherapy practice.

Education

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a member of The BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology (2005) from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts (1996) from Simon Fraser University.

Professional Development

As a psychotherapist, I believe that it is essential to continue to deepen my craft through ongoing personal/professional development and consultation. I have studied extensively, and continue to do so, in the fields of: trauma, attachment, emergent neuroscience, embodiment and somatic therapies, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

With my current focus on Relational and Interpersonal Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy I have completed several programs of study through William Alanson White Institute (2019, 2021, 2023 & 2025) and the Center for Object Relations (2021), as well as the Western Branch of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society (2021). I was a member of Dr. Allan Schore’s Seattle Study Group (2016 – 2021) and studied attachment and the Adult Attachment Interview with Dr. Mary Main and Dr. Erik Hesse (2015). Since 2002, I have studied somatic therapies, both with Dr. Peter Levine and Dr. Sharon Stanley.
